WHITE SPOTTED OCTOPUS

Eledone cirrhosa

Its body is in the form of a warty sac with a ridge separating the dorsal region from the ventral region. Its colour ranges according to where it lives.

It lives camouflaged on muddy and sandy sea bottoms and it migrates in order to reproduce. It is found in depths between 50 and 300 m. It feeds on crustaceans, molluscs and fish.

Mantle of 16 cm (females) and 11 cm (males).

Its spawning season is from March to August.

It is captured with different gear: Fish traps y dragnet.

Meat with a high protein content and low fat content.
