Shedophilus ovalis

It is a fish with an oblong body in adults, rounder in young ones, covered with small and deciduous cycloid scales that are missing in the upper part of the head, where there are abundant tiny mucous pores. The jaw is a little prominent and the eyes are round.

The head and back of the adults are brown, ranging from greenish to bluish tones and the flanks are silver-grey.

Its usual standard length is 50 to 60 cm.

Its spawning season is from June to November.

It is captured with longline.
