Oblada melanura

It is a fish with an oval-shaped and thin body. Its eyes are large and its lips are thin. It has a lead grey colour, with a black spot before the tail.

It lives in coastal waters on rocky sea bottoms. Its diet is omnivorous (algae, molluscs and crustaceans).

It can attain lengths of 30 cm, commonly ranging from 15 to 20 cm.

Its spawning season is from April to Jun.

It is captured with different gear: Dragnet, fixed gillnets, trammel and longline.

A white fish, its meat is highly appreciated and contains a high protein and low fat content.
