Sarpa salpa

Oval-shaped fish, with small mouth and thick lips. Its colour is bluish silver with 10 or 12 golden horizontal stripes.

It lives on rocky and sandy bottoms, to depths of between 5 and 70 m. It usually feeds on algae, however, it can feed on crustaceans.

It is a fish that can reach up to 50 cm in length, although it usually attains a length of approximately 20 cm.

It is captured with different gear: Trammel and fixed gillnets
